Synopsis

Why would one try to run the greatest long distance race in the world? • To show one's love for somebody? • To prove a point? • To build a church? • To escape from poverty? • To share in its excitement and history? We follow the lives and relationships of a group of mainly casual runners from different backgrounds (business and religious, rich and poor, urban and rural) who decide to enter the Comrades Marathon. To finish it is vital in each of their lives. There is much to learn and prepare for before the marathon. With support from each other, how will they fare and can they achieve their goals? Ordinary Runners captures the very essence of arguably the greatest of all long distance races. It is a celebration of the human spirit, as some relatively ordinary people attempt to do extraordinary things.
