Paul Cook takes on the case of a wealthy client's missing daughter and uses his Corporation swagger to effect a quick resolution. He's barely making progress, though. Yet he rejects the idea of needing fresh eyes on his team. Layla Barkley is content with her Baltimore practice and occasional law enforcement consulting gigs. She despises working with her former employer, the Corporation. But neither Paul nor Layla hold the cards. Their journey to recover the client's daughter unveils in a heart-thumping ride. Paul and Layla find themselves in cupid's cross-hairs. The couple falls, but the road to their happily ever after is riddled with long-kept secrets.
