After a painful split from her boyfriend, twenty-something Sophie Winters leaves her hometown of Boston to start fresh in the small, farm town of New Haven, Ohio. She finds a charming Bungalow to rent situated on the land of the massive Waverly farm, not too far from the high school where she is soon starting her new career as a high school English teacher. Sophie makes instant friends with Joan and Jake, the owners of the Waverly farm, while their nineteen year-old son, Josh, forms an instant attraction to Sophie.
